Select service factor (Sf)

  • A - uniform fa ? 0.3
  • B - average fluctuations fa ? 3
  • C - strong fluctuations fa ? 10

Service factor - a coefficient that determines the quality of work of a group of equipment (motor + gearbox) in real conditions.

If a gearbox without a motor is selected, the service factor is "1" . A correction factor should be applied to normal technical parameters of the selected gearbox, taking into account the actual conditions of its operation.

It is recommended to select gearboxes with a service factor equal to or greater than that indicated in the summary table.

The service factor ( Sf ) depends on the operating conditions of the worm gear.

Parameters that must be taken into account for an accurate calculation of the service factor:

  • work equipment load type: A - B - C
  • hours/day
  • start frequency: starts/hour
fa = Je/Jm

Je (kgm2) - moment of reduced inertia of the external load on the drive shaft

Jm (kgm2) - motor moment of inertia
